Breadcrumb
A path showing which level you are on, where every level can be clicked to go back.
When to use it
- Deep sites such as documentation, product categories or admin settings
- People often land on a deep page from search or a link
When not to
- Sites with only one or two levels
- A linear flow of steps, which needs a step indicator instead
What to tell an AI tool
Show a breadcrumb path above the content, such as "Home > Products > Sneakers"; the last level is the current page and is not a link.
