When to use it
- Bookings, appointments and date-range filters
- People need to see the weekday or nearby dates to decide
When not to
- Dates far in the past, such as a birthday: clicking through months is slow, so use separate year, month and day fields
- People who already know the exact date: also allow typing it
What to tell an AI tool
The date field opens a calendar on click so the user can pick a day; when chosen, close the calendar and show the date in the field.
