Command palette
A shortcut key opens a search box where typing jumps to a page or runs an action.
When to use it
- Feature-rich professional tools where experienced users want the keyboard
- Features buried deep that need one universal shortcut
When not to
- Products for beginners, who will not know the shortcut
- As the only way in: keep ordinary menus and buttons
What to tell an AI tool
Open a command palette with ⌘K or Ctrl+K: a centered search box that filters pages and actions as you type, Enter runs one, Esc closes.
