A few icon destinations fixed to the bottom of a phone screen, reachable with one thumb.
When to use it
- Mobile apps or mobile sites with three to five parallel, frequently used destinations
- People switch between them often
When not to
- More than five destinations
- Desktop, where a sidebar or top navigation fits better
What to tell an AI tool
On mobile, fix a row of tabs to the bottom, five at most, each with an icon and a label, and highlight the current one.
